Supporting Children and Parents Through the Crisis

We are launching a mission to help children and their parents who have medical problems when they arrive in the UK from Ukraine.

We understand that it can be difficult for new families to navigate their way in the UK health service; we are experienced consultant pediatricians and wish to help.

Meet Our Team


Professor Alastair Sutcliffe

Paediatrician

Qualified from Manchester Medical School in 1987. He has over 20 years of experience as a consultant Paediatrician. He works at the UCL and Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health in London where he is a Professor of General Paediatrics.

Dr Jane Hoddes

Paediatrician

Dr Jane Hoddes is a Consultant Paediatrician based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in North London. She qualified in 1992 and gained her certificate of specialist training in 2004.

Dr Sanjay Suri

Paediatrician

Dr Sanjay Suri is a Community Paediatrician working for The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. Sanjay has worked in acute and community settings for 22 years as a Consultant in the NHS. He has recently retired and returned to work and has a special interest in children’s neurodisabilty.

Dr Jane Marshall

Dr Marshall qualified from medical school in 2001 with BM (Hons), distinction in medical sciences and gained membership of the RCPCH in 2006. She worked as a Consultant Paediatrician in North Yorkshire, in both acute general and community paediatrics.

Dr Ujwal Kariholu

Dr Ujwal Kariholu is a consultant neonatologist at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea hospital and St Mary’s hospital. Dr Kariholu received his master’s degree (MPhil) in Neonatal Pain in 2013 from Imperial College London. Dr Kariholu has been registered as a qualified healthcare professional in the UK since 2003 and working as a full-time consultant in neonatology since 2013.


Our Aim


We wish to provide a service for children and young people who have come as refugees to the UK.

  1. Appointments are allocated for 30 minutes
  2. In order to have an appointment, please send a message below.
  3. We do not speak Ukrainian, so would require an English translator.
  4. An appointment will be offered once your request has been received.

Extra Information

Your child in this situation may have health needs; we can access and diagnose problems, prescribe medicines, and give advice about how to access health care in the UK.

Our Consultants


Professor Mike Thomson is a Professor of Paediatric Gastroenterology at the University of Sheffield. He will provide consultations regarding his specialty as needed.

Dr Fevronia Kiparissi is a consultant paediatric gastroenterologist at Great Ormond Street National Children’s Hospital and will provide special expertise for children with gastrointenstinal conditions. 

Dr Sujatha Gopal is a paediatric endocrinologist with special interest in metabolic and rare bone disorders in children and she will see children affected by growth disorders. She is working in London.

Professor Alastair Baker is a professor of paediatric hepatology.  He is based at King’s College Hospital and will provide a specialist expertise regarding any child who has a liver disease.

Ms Andrea Yeo is a paediatric orthopaedic and trauma consultant at St George’s University Hospital, London. She will provide consultations regarding her speciality as needed.

Dr Florian Moenkemeyer is a paediatric cardiologist based at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and will provide consultations regarding his expertise in child cardiac disease as needed.

Dr Anna Martinez is a consultant paediatric dermatologist at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and will provide her expertise with children who have difficult skin disorders.

Professor Barry Pizer is a professor of paediatriconcology at The Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital and will be happy to advise regarding children who have cancer.

Dr Camilla Salvestrini is a paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition consultant at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge.  She will address any gastrointestinal problems with these children.

Professor Adam Fox is a Professor of Paediatric Allergic Diseases at The Evelina Children’s Hospital and KCL. He will provide consultations regarding his specialty as needed.

Professor Graham Stuart is a Professor of Paediatric and Adult Cardiology at the University of Bristol. He will provide consultations regarding his specialty as needed.

Dr Kate Armon is a Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. She will provide consultations regarding her specialty as needed.

Dr Judith van Der Voort is a Paediatric Nephrologist based at Cardiff Children’s Hospital and will provide special expertise for children with Kidney conditions.

Ukrainian Cultural Advisors

Dr Viktoria Radchenko-Subych is a paediatrician with 13 years of experience in Ukraine. She has worked in a regional paediatric hospital in the city of Odessa until very recently when she had to leave the country due to the war, and also has experience working in a specialist burns unit and a neonatal unit. Dr Radchenko-Subych does not practice in the UK.
